Let Them Smile Again, a Houston-based 501 C (3) non-profit organization, that specializes in conducting medical missions for the benefit of the poor and needy across the world, in concert with Surgical Volunteers International, is planning to conduct a medical relief and recovery initiative, in India’s flood-ravaged Kerala State in the month of September.
Comprising of a team of doctors, nurses, medical and general volunteers and fuelled by the good will and generosity of US Indians and well-wishers from Texas and beyond, the mission intends to bring medical services and treatment to some of the most vulnerable people who have been affected by the flood disaster and displaced from their homes.
The mission will offer free immediate medical and psychiatric care and treatment to those suffering from the after effects of the flooding which often leads to outbreaks of various serious and infectious diseases.
“People who are displaced from their communities and are often housed in crowded camps are among the most vulnerable to the outbreak of diseases and infections, which often occur in the aftermath of such disasters,” said John W. Varghese, President of Let Them Smile Again. “Our mission will attempt to make medical and psychiatric treatment and services available to some of these vulnerable communities, that may be unable to access these services or otherwise unable to afford them. All organizations, individuals or medical volunteers interested in participating are welcome to join us. ”
The mission is slated to run from September 15thto 25th, 2018 and will be held at two or more locations in Kerala with the active coordination of associates and local authorities on the ground.
